Exploring the World takes place four years after the events in the Sea of Grass.
The Seventh Fleet of the Southron Confederation is near the end of it's eight year tour of the Southron Confederation's borders.This marks the end and the beginning of new phases in the lives of Dave and his Wife Helen's lives. They are about to embark on a voyage of discovery that has as it's goal the detailed mapping and survey of the 'World's' terrain as well as mineral, animal and other riches.
This novel is about how they set out to do this monumental task and gather additional people to assist them in it. Along the way they will discover ancient crimes and atrocities, modern Human ones and how the ancient conflict of World War II on Earth is still being fought in the shadows here upon the 'World'. Change has come to the 'World'. Dave and his family are soon stuck in the middle of it all.
There is still one more book planned in this series and I hope to publish it Before January 2015.

I love the universe that Phipps created and his stories are nice and easy to read. However I don't know if I got an early version of the book when I downloaded it from Amazon but the editing is horrible. I understand that it is a self-published novel, I write also and self-publish, but there are mistakes on every single page it seems.Would I recommend this book? Yes. its a great read once you ignore the editing.
Do I think its priced well, yes but please try and reread it and fix the easy to spot mistakes!

This continues to be an interesting story. The writing is excellent and the character development draws you into the action. The many mysteries of this world slowly are revealed. I look forward to the next installment. Great Job!
A great read. Well organized and presented the story flows well without being obvious. I found it easy to read a few chapters before bed then pick it up again the next night.
This is a good tale but suffers a bit from poor editing. The writer has well developed characters and enough action to keep the story moving well. Look forward to the next one but hope he finds an editor to clean it up along the way.
Enjoyed the pace and lack of gutter talk, great imagination in the story line.
the author has done a great job of weaving a story and characters into a book for us to read and follow. I only have one complaint and that is the author is not a prolific writer. it is a long time between books. he does a great job with the books he has released. I hope I remember the name when I see it next year so I can but the next book
There was a real jump in quality from the Terran Space Navy novels to The Sea of Grass first novel, not that I didn't really like the first two TSN novels, but Exploring the World is the best yet. If you like Paul Philips, try the Trade World Saga/series by Ken Pence or Ironstar by Grant Hallman.
I loved this book. I'm a sucker for success stories and this one doesn't disappoint. Phipps continues to wow me with his writing, pacing and characters. Sea of Grass (2) is the ultimate world-building as the planet is the main character and it gets revealed little by little. Less action than the first novel in the series but more wonder. Great humor in the dialog and story as well as drama. The entire ethos and value system of the Terran Space Navy is worthwhile and the technology astounding.
