Siblings Katie and her little brother Kyle learn about personal safety, private parts, and “thumbs up & thumbs down” touches by talking with their mom in a loving and easy-to-understand manner. With an empowering dialog that is never fearful, parents can use this book to begin this important discussion with their children. Katie and Kyle’s mom also explains the essential “No Secrets” rule in their family, and that it is never their fault if they get an “uh-oh feeling” from anyone.

The story is written with a positive and engaging approach using child-friendly language and charming illustrations. A “Parent's Guide with Prevention Tips” is also included to help parents understand their role in keeping children safe from sexual abuse. By learning how to interpret red flags and how to recognize possible grooming scenarios, parents can significantly reduce the risks and keep their children safe from predators.

No Trespassing - This Is MY Body!” comes highly recommended by pediatricians, teachers and parents as a valuable tool in the fight against childhood sexual abuse.

This book is great for any child in any situation.
The book tells a story about an older sister and a younger brother who have similarities such as their love for ice cream and playing at the park, but also their differences, such as the sister likes to play on the slide and the brother likes to play on the swing.

It also talks about a difference in their body, that they have different private parts - but stops there. Tells the reader that boys have a one piece bathing suit to cover their private parts and girls have two piece bathing suits.

Thumbs up touch - like hugs from an aunt
Thumbs down touch - like unwanted tickles. Then goes into detail of it is okay to say "No" or "Stop" to someone who is giving an unwanted touch.
The book tells children when it is okay for a grown up to check a child's private area - and who may do so.
My favorite part is that it lets children know that "playing a private parts game" is never okay.

My 4 year old and 18 month old LOVE this book!! They request it several times a week and always anxiously await the end when the children say, "my body is MINE MINE MINE!!" It is super cute.

I would recommend this book to any child at any age.

NO Trespassing This Is MY Body! Pattie Fitzgerald 9780984747207 Books Reviews

A good, non-frightening book for introducing delicate topics to preschoolers. My 4 1/2 year old enjoyed the book, and we've been able to revisit it a few times to talk about "ut-oh feelings" or the kinds of touches that are appropriate. I knew I needed to have this conversation with my child, but didn't know where to start- this book provided an excellent introduction. I also appreciated the section with tips for parents on having these conversations with children.
This book and her other one are both great books for preschool-age kids. This book is more of a story told by the kids about what private parts are, who and when someone can look at them or touch them, and that it's ok to say no, even to hugs or tickles from someone you love. The other one (Super Duper Safety School) is safety rules and covers a lot more topics about how to handle various situations. Both books are not scary for my 3-year-old and I recommend them both. There's some overlap in concepts but this one I would consider the beginning book because it's shorter and simpler.
In the book it said it was okay for Mom or Dad to touch. That isn't a true statement. I feel it should have been presented differently. I was going to give this book to a parent whose son was abused by his father.
Our son is 3.5 years old and listened to the entirety of the book the first time through. The book is enjoyable and to the point, and we felt the language was just right for our child. I appreciated how the author pointed out differences between boys and girls, private areas, and that he has a right to say NO to anyone who makes him uncomfortable, including family and friends. Bodily autonomy, privacy, and being respectful to others is something we are trying to instill in him, and I think this book does a good job introducing and explaining those concepts in a fun, easy way.
Buy the Safety School companion book and save yourself the $13 bucks. SS says the same thing but better and with other safety information.
This book is perfect for my toddler aged son because it's short and to the point. I like that it really demonstrates that children get to be the boss of their own body. It educates children in following their feelings and putting up boundaries when they feel uncomfortable, even if it's a hug or tickles that makes them feel uncomfortable. I read this book to my 5 year old son as an introduction to the topic. He really likes it and asks me to read it to him frequently. But I chose another book as our primary source for teaching about safety in this arena because it's much more comprehensive. The other book is "I said no" and I highly recommend that book for older children (maybe 4 and older). "No trespassing-this is my body" uses a "thumbs up, thumbs down" in talking about whether a touch makes them feel happy (hugs) or is keeping them clean (bathing, etc.) or for a touch that makes them feel uncomfortable, "yucky", or scared. And it talks about stating your boundaries, leaving the situation, and telling a parent or trusted adult. I never felt uncomfortable or weird while reading this. The content is very appropriate and is tastefully done. It's a great way to start a dialog and keep a dialog going by reading again and again.
Great book. Gets right to the point without being overly creepy or weird. I bought it to ready to my toddler so that she would be well prepared in advance to be her own advocate if, God forbid, the situation ever presented itself. I'm a big believer in prevention is the best medicine... for everything. She loves this book and soaked it up like a sponge. This book also does a really good job of explaining situations where a child might have to have someone examine their body (for hygiene or health reasons) and who/when it's okay for that to happen. That was my biggest hurdle with a lot of other books. Most of them just tell the kids that no one should ever touch them ever... but with young kids that's not the case. I still have to help my toddler with hygiene care and if she needs to be examined by a doctor I don't want her to freak out because the doctor is looking at a "forbidden" area. This book addresses these topics, which I think is really great. Thanks!!!
